United Continues Development in Series Finale at Grand Blanc SAGINAW, MI — The Saginaw United baseball team wrapped up its Saginaw Valley League South series with Grand Blanc on Wednesday, falling 16-1 in three innings. United showed early competitiveness, getting on the board in the first inning when Iggy Delgado reached base and later scored on a wild pitch. Phil Patton Jr., Dakari Sims, and Dean Simpson III each contributed by reaching base during the contest. On the mound, Delgado delivered a solid effort, continuing a stretch of improved performances. Teammates Seth Pilon-Patterson and Jace Delgado also saw time on the mound, each continuing to develop and gain valuable varsity experience. Head Coach Nate Volk noted the growth shown by his team over the course of the series. “Our pitchers competed and showed improvement throughout the week,” Volk said. “We are continuing to build consistency and gain experience, which will be important as the season moves forward.” While early defensive miscues led to additional scoring opportunities for Grand Blanc, United continues to focus on learning from those moments and improving in all phases of the game. Saginaw United (0-6, 0-3 SVL South) will return to action Monday with an SVL South doubleheader at Davison.
