Grand Blanc Takes Saginaw Valley League Opener Against Saginaw United Grand Blanc claimed both ends of a doubleheader against Saginaw United Monday afternoon in Saginaw Valley League baseball action, winning Game 1 and Game 2 by identical 15-0 scores, each game ending after three innings. Phillip Patton Jr. reached base for United in the opener, while Jay Garcia made his presence felt at the plate in Game 2 for the Saginaw United squad, which falls to 0-5 overall and 0-2 in SVL play. On the mound, United got work from Ignacio Delgado, Lavarion Luera, Seth Pilon-Patterson, Dakari Sims, and Garcia, with each pitcher logging valuable varsity innings. Despite the final scores, United Head Coach Nate Volk came away encouraged by what he saw from his pitching staff. "We saw improved consistency from all of our pitchers the more they threw," Volk said. "Their forms were repeating and accuracy became more natural. I liked the way the four of them competed." With a young season still ahead of them, the Saginaw United program appears focused on development and building the kind of habits that can turn a tough stretch into a foundation for growth.
