Saginaw United Drops Two Against Saginaw Heritage The Saginaw United baseball team registered only one hit over two lopsided losses against host Saginaw Heritage Wednesday afternoon at Olsen Park. The Game 1 final was 15-0 in three innings. The Game 2 final was 18-0 and also ended in three innings. United's only hit was by Game 1 catcher Dakari Sims. Zhaiden Agloro started game 1 on the mound for United (0-3) and moved the ball around effectively against a strong top half of the Heritage order. "Zhaiden was a definite bright spot for us," Volk said. "He located really well. Used some off-speed. Should have been out of the first with 15 fewer pitches than he ended up throwing and maybe the score being 2-0 rather than 6-0. We extended the inning with a couple errors." United used a split squad format for the first time in 2026 with their current JV team scrimmaging the Hawk JV team on a nearby field. "The energy and chatter from our younger guys on the bus trip home spoke volumes," Volk said. "They were excited about baseball. And in my fifteen minutes watching them after our first game, I saw guys playing with great energy. Super job by (assistant coaches) Roy (Sims) and Tony (Ayala). Both guys gave up the ability to watch family on the Varsity to handle that for us." United is scheduled to host Ypsilanti Friday night at Olsen Park. First pitch is set for 4:30 p.m. United begins 6 weeks of Saginaw Valley League play on Monday.
