Ritenour Sr High School

Husky Nation, Student safety is paramount when making decisions, especially with inclement weather/extreme heat in the area. We are governed by MSHSAA (our state association) and the NFHS (our national association). Attached are the extreme heat guidelines that we follow. Looking at the forecast is great for getting a broad idea of what to expect, but our final decision comes from us monitoring real "WET BULB" temperatures on campus/facilities. Wet-bulb globe temperature (WBGT) is a comprehensive measure of heat stress in direct sunlight that accounts for air temperature, humidity, wind speed, sun angle, and cloud cover. WBGT vs. Heat Index Heat Index: Measures perceived temperature based strictly on air temperature and humidity in the shade. WBGT: Measures actual heat stress outdoors in direct sunlight, factoring in the added loads of wind and solar radiation. Decisions will be made on a daily basis and we will do our best to communicate and make safety centered decisions for our students. As always, all attempts will be made to reschedule games lost due to weather.
