Ritenour Sr High School

Lonnie Johnson Breaks 45 Year Old School Record in Discus at North Point Last Chance Meet - 5/9/2026. Ritenour Track has an incredibly rich history and the "Field" side of things is no different. There has been some debate on the school record in the Discus at Ritenour High School over the years. Was it set in 1979 by Todd Mead with an unverified distance of 150’10”, or was it set in 2012 by Dovonte Simmons with a verified distance of 148’4” at the District Meet. This past Saturday in his first meet of the track and field season, Junior Lonnie Johnson won the Last Chance Meet at North Point High School in the Discus, and brought the debate to a close, with an outstanding throw of 156 '4 ". The new school record holder is now heading into Districts this Saturday as the number one ranked Discus thrower, and currently 18th overall in Class 5A, with an opportunity to advance to the Sectional Meet. Congratulations to Lonnie and our throws coach, Coach Howard!
