Football dominated on Friday and carried that over into Saturday morning with a clean sweep of Southport.  QB1 Allen Zupan was close to perfect in the pocket (5-for-6) throwing 2 TD passes to Byron Hon and rushing for another.  Jonathon Hunter found the endzone for three rushing TDs.  The defense was led by Carson Stringer (3 tackles/2 assists) and KJ Barnett (2 tackles/3 assists/1 sack) in his first varsity start.   Girls Cross Country continues to outrun the majority of the field.  The Falcons placed 7th (out of 16) at the Marion County Championship.  Sophomore Kairi Ghent earned All-County honors and finished 15th with a personal best time for the second straight week.  Maddie Burk's 10th-place finish in the Freshman race earned her All-Freshman County honors. Other runners with personal best times on Saturday include Hellen Hollander, Elisa Coopola, Myah Nichols, and Sayler Larrea.   Boys Cross Country stepped into new roles while extending the streak of finishing ahead of Southport at the Marion County meet.  The Falcons placed 8th our of 16 teams. Senior Alec Dial finished 8th individually to earn All-County honors followed by Junior Cooper Miles' personal best time despite a soft and muddy course.  Sam Cochran finished 10th to earn All-Freshman honors in the Freshman race.   Girls Volleyball fought for a big conference win at home last week outlasting Morroesville in 5 long sets (23-25, 25-21, 29-27, 20-25, 18-16).  The Falcons also picked up a home victory over Greenwood Christian Academy.  The team is led by Seniors Lydia Hartman (75 kills) and Kendall Brookbank (62 kills) along with Junior Kendall Garland (.314 hitting percentage).  Juniors Martina Mays (12 aces) and Kendall Kocher (5.7 digs per game) lead the back row and Senior Nadia Kreich controls the net (18 blocks). Girls Soccer scored in the rival game with Southport last Wednesday to bounce back from the conference loss to Mooresville Monday.  With Southport, the teams went back and forth before ending in a 2-2 (Senior Lana Mack w goals) tie on the scoreboard.  The Falcons could get another chance at the Cardinals in Sectionals.   Boys Soccer fought through three opponents through the hottest week of the fall, going 1-1-1.  The Falcons scored first against Southport and Senior Momo Thang made an unbelievable dive late to preserve the game-ending tie result.  The Falcons remain unbeaten in the Mid-State conference.   Unified Football traveled to Warren Central and looks forward to playing the home opener this week against Tech on Thursday.   Boys Tennis was able to get two of three matches in by going under the nights; winning over Lawrence North (4-1) and wins by Collin Smothers (2 Singles) and Hosea/Vincent (1 Doubles) kept the match with Roncalli tight to the final set (2-3).   Girls Golf the heat took out the only opportunity for the Falcons last week.  The team was able to get some individual work in prior to the conference championship this week.
