Plainfield Girls Swim & Dive Captures 8th Straight Sectional Title

The Plainfield girls swim and dive team continued its winning ways on Saturday, capturing its eighth consecutive sectional championship with 548 points to run away with the team title. Avon finished second with 381 points. Several Quakers claimed event victories on the day, starting with the 200-yard medley relay, which touched the wall first in 1:51.35. Allison Woodard followed with a win in the 200-yard IM in 2:11.95, while Aubrie Keating sprinted to first place in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.45 seconds. In the butterfly, Adele Simon posted a winning time of 59.17 in the 100-yard fly, and Allison Woodard picked up another victory by winning the 500-yard freestyle in 5:21.39. Plainfield also took first place in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a winning time of 1:39.37. Additional victories came from Julia Baker in the 100-yard backstroke, winning in 59.48 seconds, and the 400-yard freestyle relay, which closed out the meet with a winning time of 3:37.88. Audrey Brown placed second in the diving competition with a total score of 415.75. With another sectional trophy secured, the Quakers now turn their attention to the IHSAA State Finals, which begin Friday night at the Natatorium in downtown Indianapolis. The diving regional is at Plainfield on Tuesday night, starting at 6:00 pm. Congratulations to Coach Johnson and the entire Plainfield girls swim and dive team on an incredible achievement and an eight-year run of sectional excellence.
