Quakers Go 2–0 on the Weekend; Move to 1–0 in Mid-State Play

The Plainfield boys basketball team put together an impressive weekend, opening Mid-State Conference play with a 64–52 win over Whiteland on Friday night before turning around for a strong 75–65 victory over New Albany on Saturday at the Santas for Sneakers event. Friday vs. Whiteland: The Quakers were outstanding defensively all night, energized by the relentless on-ball pressure of senior Trey Barton, who set the tone against the Whiteland guards. Plainfield showcased balanced scoring, placing three players in double figures: - Noah Smith – 16 - Harper Baker-Lands – 16 - Landon Gilliatt – 10 Off the bench, Bryce Sebanc provided a major spark with his activity and 8 points, helping Plainfield secure the conference-opening win. Saturday vs. New Albany: With a quick turnaround for an 11:30 a.m. tip, the Quakers responded with one of their best offensive stretches of the season, putting together a dominant second quarter to build an 8-point halftime lead. They maintained control throughout the second half on their way to a 75–65 victory. Plainfield was led by Harper Baker-Lands, who scored 27 points. Noah Smith added 24, and Landon Gilliatt contributed 15 to round out another strong team effort. The Quakers return to action Friday night, traveling to Martinsville for a Mid-State Conference matchup. JV and freshmen tip at 6:00 p.m., followed by varsity.
