This weekend at the Decatur Central Invitational, our wrestling program put on a full display of what hard work, toughness, and culture look like. Both the boys and the Lady Falcons finished SECOND PLACE OVERALL as teams, competing against deep, talented fields and proving that Perry wrestling is built to contend. ⸻ 🏆 BOYS TEAM — 2ND PLACE OVERALL The boys battled through long brackets, multiple matches, and high-level competition. Every win mattered, every point counted, and the team effort showed from top to bottom. 🥇 Champions • Jeremiah Payne (70) • DJ Marion (80) • Richard Thorpe (120) 🥈 2nd Place Finishers • Leland Keller (75) • Enzo Stewart (90) • Dustin Sherwood (126) • Mohammad Hamadi (132) • Dalton Branthoover (144) 🥉 4th Place • Vernon Branthoover (85) • Jaeden Lopez (106) • Jason Perez (113) • Hunter McCullough (285) 🏅 Other Placers • Bawitha Thawng – 6th (165) • Malaki Gaines – 7th (100) • Seth Hearvin – 7th (138) • Carlos Garcia – 7th (245) • Tyrese Hamilton – 8th (95) • Gianni Gardner – 8th (190) Every wrestler contributed. Some scored big points, others battled back through the consolations, and some didn’t place but helped push the team forward. That’s what a real team looks like. ⸻ 🏆 LADY FALCONS — 2ND PLACE OVERALL The girls matched the boys’ intensity and proved the Falcons’ girls program is strong, competitive, and rising fast. 🥇 Champions • Vania Gutierrez (115) • Abril Rodriguez (130–135) • Amia Quarles (190–235) 🥈 2nd Place Finishers • Jillian Halper (120) • Averie Payton (135) • Kynsie Rhodes (140) 🥉 3rd Place • Mia Merris-Munoz (170-A) These girls wrestled fearless, stayed aggressive, and competed with confidence from start to finish. ⸻ 🔥 PROGRAM PRIDE This weekend wasn’t just about medals it was about growth, belief, and culture. Two teams. Two runner-up finishes. Countless moments of toughness and resilience. Thank you to our parents for the constant support, the coaches for the preparation, and most importantly the athletes for representing Perry the right way. We’re building something special. This program is rising. PERRY / FALCON WRESTLING IS BUILT DIFFERENT.
