Welcome to our the first newsletter for the 2025-26 Lady Commodore Basketball Season! The youth program is hitting the ground running! 5th-8th grade started practice last week and met a few times over Fall Break to get in some extra work. Our Youth Winter League for 2nd-4th graders begins this week, practices on Tuesdays and Thursdays followed by games on Saturday morning. The development of our feeder program is essential to the future success of our varsity teams. Fall Break was the first official week of practice for the varsity team! The focus and energy that the team brought each and every day was outstanding. The practices were fast-paced with a mix of fundamental work and offensive/defensive install periods. Many girls decided to even come in early to shoot on the gun, work on finishing or improve ball handling. We appreciate their willingness to go above what is expected of them! Extremely happy about our week, but there is a lot of work still to do! This week we will have our scrimmage away at Corydon on Tuesday. The scrimmage is the perfect opportunity, especially playing an opponent like Corydon, to see the things we are doing well and expose the areas where we still need improvement. This is not something we scout or prep for, we simply use this competition as feedback to where we currently are. The scrimmage is 5 quarters (2 Varsity, 1 JV, 2 Varsity) with changing defenses. This upcoming Saturday we will be having our first annual Media Day! We will be bringing in Coach Carrico's wife, Jennifer, to create some awesome material. We will be using some of the pictures to create Schedule Posters for the team to be handed out at our home games. As we look ahead, next week we play Cannelton on Monday (November 3rd) and Wood Memorial on Thursday (November 6th). Both games will be at home. Thank you all for your continued support of the program! I am looking forward to a great year and excited to see what all we can accomplish! - Coach Schaefer
