Welcome to the fourth week of our Sunday Newsletter! Last week was a busy one with two basketball games taking place for the Lady Commodores. On Tuesday we traveled to Evansville Bosse for our first competition. The team struggled early due to the intense and loud environment that Bosse students and fans created. However, the team settled in and was able to put together a 50-12 halftime score. Our press caused a lot of problems for the Bulldogs and our ability to push the ball in transition led to easy scores from close range. The team ended up winning the game, and got better from the experience! The second game was at home on Friday against PLAC conference opponent the Mitchell Bluejackets! Different from Tuesday, the team was able to get out to a great start! A common phrase by the team this season is "Start Fast, Finish Fast", and we did just that. We were able to put together 4 solid quarters on both ends of the court. Great win for our team! This upcoming week will be full of great contests! On Tuesday, we play the South Spencer Rebels at home. The Rebels will be looking to attack the paint hard and kick out to shooters We will have to make them put it on the ground and rely on our help-side defense to be in great position to eliminate them from getting to the bucket. Thursday we play the Forest Park Rangers on the road! We will have to keep them off the boards by only giving up one shot each position. Lastly, we play the Southridge Raiders at home on Saturday. All three teams we expect will press some and push back into mainly 2-3 Zone/Man defense. Looking forward to getting back after it this week as a team! Lots of work yet to do! - Coach Schaefer
