Welcome to the Week 3 Sunday Newsletter! This last week we began our season with two home basketball contests. On Monday, we began our season against a county rival in Cannelton. From the tip, our defensive pressure and execution on offense led to a great game. Final score of the matchup was PC 50 - Cannelton 2. This marks the fewest points ever given up in program history! Additionally, we had an electric home game on Thursday versus Wood Memorial! The Trojans arrived as the #10 ranked squad in 1A basketball. They played extremely physical and with great patience on offense. It was a great test for our team, and we rose to the occasion! Our girls matched their physicality, ran our man offense extremely well and found a way to win in the 4th quarter. Wood Memorial switched to a 3-2 (or 1-2-2) in the half court and gave us some fits until our girls settled into an offense we had yet to work on. Great win for the Lady Commodores, PC 52 vs WM 41. This next week we have our first game on the road at Evansville Bosse (0-0) on Tuesday! The Bulldogs have most of their team back from last year. They like to play fast and play physical, which sometimes puts them at a disadvantage. They will run a 3-2 half court defense as well and do their best to make us shoot the ball from the outside. On Friday, we will host the Mitchell Bluejackets (1-1) for our first conference matchup! The Bluejackets have improved greatly from last season. They will play a 2-2-1 press back into a 2-3 zone mainly, with some man-to-man thrown in. Friday will also be the night we distribute our Season Calendars for the Lady Commodore Basketball Team! It will include photos of the team from our Media Day as well as provide the calendar for all of our games. Looking forward to a great week! We must prepare each day like it's our last, and show up both nights ready to compete! - Coach Schaefer
