Owosso (12-4-2) on the season travelled to perennial soccer power Mason on Thursday night in a first round district matchup, with the Bulldogs fresh off their win against Dewitt last week and boasting the highest MPR a Trojan team had faced this season. The Trojans entered the game as the 5th seed in District 25 against the 4 seeded Mason team with Lansing Eastern awaiting the winner on Monday in Dewitt. Mason and Owosso would both come out swinging. The two sides would trade attack after attack with both defenses and keepers turning away everything the other side had to throw at them. The score at half would end 0-0. The second half would resume exactly the way the first half started. Both sides taking shots, with both keepers making save after save. The Bulldogs would score the only goal of the game midway through the second half on break that saw a Trojan defender slipped or pushed and leading to the Mason goal. The Trojans would have their chances though, with multiple chances just finding their way wide or saved. The book closes on the Trojans best year of boys soccer in quite some time, against a very good Mason side. These seniors will leave a legacy for future Trojans to follow and improve on and memories they and their teammates will carry for years. The team and coaches want to thank the Trojans who came out this season to support them including the fans and students who made the drive to Mason and showed what true Trojan pride and friendship represents. You know who you are, and we're equally proud to have your support and watch you all lead our other teams.
