The girls cross-country team had an outstanding day of racing at the Chesaning XC Invitational! With cooler temperatures and great racing conditions, the team came ready to compete, and every girl had a stellar race. Out of 140 runners, six of our girls earned medals, finishing in the top 50 overall. Abby Crandell led the way with an incredible 5th place finish, running 19:29. Penny Ewald finished 15th and continues to chip away at her PR by finishing 20:57. Miriam Skarich ran a fantastic personal best of 22:41, finishing 39th. Ava Spencer crossed the finish line in 41st place with a 22:42, taking more than 50 seconds off her personal best. Summer Walker finished 43rd in 22:46, improving her time by an impressive 39 seconds. Gracie Ockerman had another breakthrough, finishing 48th in 22:54 and taking more than 51 seconds off her personal best. And Maggie Powers had an amazing race, finishing in 25:06, cutting 1 minute and 50 seconds off her previous time. What a day for our girls! They finished 5th out of 11 teams. I’m so proud of the way these girls continue to compete and push themselves.
