OWOSSO — The Owosso Varsity Volleyball team earned its first conference victory of the 2026 season in dramatic fashion, defeating Clio 3-2 in a hard-fought five-set battle at home. The Trojans and Mustangs traded momentum throughout the night. Clio edged Owosso 29-27 in the opening set before the Trojans answered with a 25-19 win in the second. Clio reclaimed the advantage with a 25-21 victory in the third, putting Owosso in a must-win situation. The Trojans responded with grit, taking the fourth set 25-20 to force a decisive fifth. Then came the comeback of the night. Owosso found itself trailing 6-11 in the fifth set, just four Clio points away from defeat. Instead of folding under the pressure, the Trojans fought their way back point by point. Owosso erased the five-point deficit, captured the momentum and completed an incredible rally to win the deciding set 15-13. The comeback capped an exciting night for a Trojan team that has continued to show growth and resilience throughout the season. Breeah Reed led the Owosso attack with 15 kills, while also recording a team-high 19 digs and 7 aces. Aspyn Brock added 9 kills, while Addie Miculka contributed 5 kills and 2 aces. Ady Freeman finished with 4 kills, 12 assists and 7 digs, while Ainsley Lintner directed the offense with a team-high 19 assists and added 5 aces from the service line. Defensively, the Trojans received contributions throughout the lineup. Ryder Elwell recorded 14 digs, Lilliana Schack added 13, and Nevaeh LeConte contributed 7. Natalie Jaime also added 3 kills and 2 aces. As a team, Owosso finished with 41 kills, 33 assists, 77 digs and 20 aces. For the Trojans, the victory was about more than adding another win to the schedule. After facing challenging competition throughout the early season, Owosso showed its ability to respond when the pressure was highest. Coming back from an 11-6 deficit in the deciding fifth set to earn the program's first conference victory of 2026 made the night one to remember.
