FLUSHING — The Owosso Varsity Volleyball team continued to show growth and improvement Saturday at the Flushing Varsity Tournament, taking on a strong field that included Flushing, Goodrich, Midland and Milford. Throughout the day, the Trojans continued to demonstrate the progress they have made early in the season, competing through tough stretches and showing improvement with each opportunity on the court. Owosso's ability to battle defensively, create pressure from the service line and find more offensive production were encouraging signs for a young team continuing to build chemistry and consistency. Breeah Reed led the Trojan attack on the day with 14 kills, while also contributing 16 digs and 5 aces. Reed continued to be a key presence for Owosso on both sides of the ball. Aspyn Brock provided another strong option at the net, finishing the tournament with 8 kills and 4 block assists. Natalie Jaime added 4 kills, 8 digs, 2 aces and 2 block assists, while Addie Miculka contributed 2 kills, 3 total blocks and an ace. Owosso received contributions from multiple players in its offensive system. Ainsley Lintner recorded 14 assists, while Ady Freeman added 12 assists along with 14 digs, 3 block assists and 2 aces. Defensively, Ryder Elwell and Reed each recorded 16 digs to lead the Trojans. Freeman followed with 14, while Lilliana Schack added 10 digs and Nevaeh LeConte contributed 9. The Trojans also totaled 15 aces as a team throughout the tournament. While the results don't always tell the full story of a developing team, Owosso continues to take steps forward each time it takes the court. The Trojans showed increased competitiveness throughout Saturday's tournament and continue to gain valuable experience against quality competition. With each match, Owosso is working toward turning those stretches of strong volleyball into consistent play — and Saturday provided another opportunity for the Trojans to grow together and continue building toward the second half of the season.
