The Owosso Trojans Girls Cross Country team competed against a deep field at the Spartan Invitational, finishing 18th overall out of 28 teams. Freshman Penny Ewald led the way for the Trojans, continuing an impressive start to her first high school season. Ewald crossed the finish line in 34th place overall with a time of 21:40.7 to pace Owosso. Junior Miriam Skarich was the next Trojan across the line, recording a season-best time of 24:21.9 to finish 126th overall. Sophomore Ava Spencer followed closely behind, taking 137th place with a time of 24:36.5. Owosso then had back-to-back finishers as juniors Summer Walker and Gracie Ockerman each crossed the line in 24:39.4. Walker finished 141st, while Ockerman was 142nd and recorded a season-best performance. Sophomore Maggie Powers rounded out Owosso's finishers, placing 201st with a time of 27:43.7. With a young lineup that featured only one senior-class-eligible grade and several underclassmen, the Trojans gained valuable experience against a large and competitive field.
