Owosso (4-1) defeated Flushing (1-2) by a 7-1 score on September 1st, leaning on a clean sweep of the doubles flights to control the dual meet. Flushing picked up one singles point, but Owosso answered everywhere else to keep its strong start going. At No. 1 singles, Owosso’s Kevin Defrenn handled Griffin J. 6-1, 6-2 to set the tone. The lone Flushing win came at No. 2 singles, where Colten F. topped Levi Pierce 7-5, 6-4 in a tight match that kept the visitors briefly in range. The closest battle came at No. 3 singles, where Keagan Spielman (5-3) outlasted Flushing’s Tyler S. (3-3) 7-6 (10), 6-3 after taking the first-set tiebreak. Owosso then overwhelmed the doubles side, led by Jacob Moore and Aiden DeFrenn at No. 1 doubles in a 6-4, 6-0 win and capped by another dominant result at No. 4 doubles. The 7-1 finish reflected Owosso’s depth and moved the team further into the season with momentum.
