OHXC Lady Eagles Finish Strong Runner Up at 25 School Small School Division at Columbus North Invite - Travis & Brunner Both Earn Top 20 Medals

For the 2nd time in three weeks the OHXC Lady Eagles traveled South to compete against tough competition and finish 2nd by 7 points to a talented Southwestern Hanover team. Saturday competing in the 25 school Small School Division at the Columbus North Rick Weinheimer Classic the Lady Eagles lost another close one to Southwestern (team who beat them at Shelbyville 51-58) 105-112. The event overall features 50 schools including multiple Top 25 State Raked Teams. All 50 schools compete in one race with the divisions - Large School and Small School broken up and scored after. The Lady Eagles managed to put 2 athletes on the Top 20 Medal Podium and all 5 of the scoring athletes in the Top 42. Senior Biruk Travis led the way with a strong season best run of 20:07 to finish 7th. Junior Quinn Brunner just missed her personal best running 20:47 to finish 14th overall earning a medal along with Travis. Brunner's time was nearly 5 minutes faster than her time on the same course 2 years ago. Sophomore Rossi Skinner just missed a podium medal finishing 22nd overall with the rest of the Varsity scoring Top 5 coming from Sophomore Lilly Hunt in 37th and Senior Kaitlyn Scalf in 42nd, Senior Classmate Sophia Rowland was right behind Scalf coming in 43rd. Scalf set a new personal best by nearly a full minute. Junior Lilly Snyder rounded out the Varsity Top 7 in 58th. Behind Southwestern and the Lady Eagles was Speedway with 118 points in 3rd, Tell City with 132 points in 4th, and Greensburg with 158 in 5th. Overall the Lady Eagles were a solid 15th in the combined field comprised of mostly larger schools from Indiana and Ohio. Ohio power Milford won the girls overall race while Indiana State Ranked Floyd Central, Noblesville, and Columbus North all went 2-3-4. With two runner up finishes at Shelbyville and Columbus along with a strong 4th at last weekend's Oak Hill Invite the Lady Eagles over the last 3 weeks are a combined 69-5 against Class 1a, 2a, and smaller 3a competition. The Lady Eagles do not compete again until the Grant 4 Championship on Tuesday September 23rd at Mississinewa.
