OHXC Golden Eagles Win 25 School Small School Division at Columbus North Invite - Tippey, Sommers, & Hart All Earn Top 20 Medals

For the 3rd straight weekend the OHXC Golden Eagles won a major Invitational this time winning the Small School Division at the Columbus North Rick Weinheimer Classic. The event features 50 schools including multiple Top 25 State Raked Teams. All 50 schools compete in one race with the divisions - Large School and Small School broken up and scored after. The Golden Eagles managed to put 2 athletes in the Top 10, 3 in the Top 20, and all 7 Varsity Athletes in the Top 50 to win their respective division comprised of 25 schools with 103 points. Providence was 2nd with 139 while Tell City was 3rd with 157, Hauser 4th with 161, and Greensburg rounded out the Top 5 in 5th with 162. Overall on the day the Golden Eagles were 10th of all 50 schools trailing only large division programs. The event featured the #1, #2, #3 teams in the State currently with #2 Columbus North winning followed by #1 Noblesville in 2nd and defending State Champion Bloomington North in 3rd. After winning at Shelbyville two weeks ago, Oak Hill last weekend, and Columbus Saturday the Golden Eagles record over the last 3 weeks is 74-0 against Class 1a, 2a, and Small 3a competition. Senior Golden Eagles Corban Tippey and Brayden Sommers both led the way with a pair of Top 10 podium finishes. Tippey was 6th in a new personal best time of 16:16. Tippey's time ranks him 11th all time on OHXC Program History and is the 8th fastest time the last 25 years. Sommers also set a new personal best clocking 16:34. With his time Sommers finished 9th and moved into the Top 25 all time in OHXC History. Joining Tippey and Sommers on the Top 20 Medal Podium was Junior Wyatt Hart who set a new personal best just missing a sub 17 minutes effort finishing 19th in 17:02. Sophomore Josh Clark 35th and Freshman Cooper McQuiston 42nd rounded out the scoring Top 5 while Sophomore Bret Hueston and Junior Eli Leak were the 6th and 7th Varsity runners in 43rd and 50th respectively. The Golden Eagles are now off from competing until the Grant 4 Championship at Mississinewa on Tuesday September 23rd.
