OHTF Golden Eagles Win Half the Events in Wins Over Eastbrook & Elwood - Leak & Roth Win Multiple Events

The OHTF Golden Eagles remained unbeaten on the outdoor season with wins over host Eastbrook and visiting Elwood Tuesday. It was a total team effort as the Golden Eagles were without a handful of their top scorers. The Golden Eagles won 8 of the 16 events and collected a 2nd place finish in 8 of 16 events as well including a 1-2-3 sweep in Pole Vault and 1-2 event sweeps in 1600 Meter Run and 300 Meter Hurdles. In doing so the Golden Eagles totaled 82 points to outdistance a very talented Eastbrook team who finished with 70 points. Elwood was 3rd with 11. The Golden Eagles had 2 double event winners on the night in Senior Owen Roth and Junior Eli Leak. Roth won the 400 Meter Dash in a new personal best and anchored the winning 4x400 Meter Relay. Joining him on the relay were classmates Morshown Cotton and Micah McKinney along with Sophomore Luke Elzinga. Leak won the 1600 Meter Run in a new personal best while also running a leg on the winning 4x800 Meter Relay. Joining Leak on the relay was Senior Owen Middlesworth, Junior Marc Caritos, and Freshman Christian Smiley. Leak also took 4th in the 3200 Meter Run to round out a very solid night. Other Golden Eagle winners on the night were Senior Drew Elzinga in the 300 Meter Hurdles along with Juniors Kyle Brower and Thane Jones in the Pole Vault and Shot Put. Freshman Josh Clark took 1st in the 3200 Meter Run. Brower led a 1-2-3 event sweep in the Pole Vault followed by Sophomore Meyer Middlesworth in 2nd and Freshman Ben Babinski in 3rd. Elzinga led a 1-2 sweep in the hurdles with McKinney taking 2nd. Clark took 2nd to Leak in the 1600 for the Golden Eagle's 3rd 1-2 sweep of the night. Runner Up finishes on the night came from the 4x100 Meter Relay of Cotton and Senior Classmates Reese Hernandez and Seth David along with Freshman Jesse Zwirn. Sophomore Jalen Scott took a close 2nd in the 200 Meter Dash while Smiley was 2nd in the 800 Meter Run. Zwirn set a new personal best to take 2nd in the High Jump while Luke Elzinga was 2nd in the Long Jump. The Golden Eagles compete in two major invitationals this weekend on Saturday split squadding with a large portion of the team competing in the Goshen Relays and another section of the team competing in the Frankfort Invitational.
