Varsity Softball won against Peru 16-5 last night. Jolee Hawkins started the first inning with a single, followed up a with a fly into right field by Karsyn Wiley that couldn't be caught. (Riley Archer came in to run for Wiley). Madison Archer followed up with a hard hit that the 2nd basemen couldn't get a clean glove on and the Eagles were able to score 2 runs. Oak Hill scored 4 more runs the next inning. Becca Cardona got to first on a throwing error, then Pathie Speicher had a base hit and advanced to 2nd due to good base running. Liz Godfrey was then hit by a pitch to load the bases. Lex Myers hit to shortstop and scored a run on a sacrifice. J. Hawkins hit another run in followed by a hard hit between short and 3rd by K. Wiley that score another run. The Eagles scored 4 more runs in the 3rd inning to put them ahead the Tigers 10-1. There was a little lull for a couple innings, but the Eagles decided to pour it on in the top of the 7th inning. They scored 6 runs to make the score 16-4. P. Speicher was walked and was followed up by a single by L. Godfrey. L. Myers hit a ball to the pitcher, but made it to first following some confusion on where to throw the ball. Ryleigh Myers then hit the ball up the middle to score a run. Jolee had a hard hit and made it to first on a fielders choice to home to get the 2nd out of the inning. K. Wiley dropped a little blooper over 2nd base to score 2 runs and M. Archer followed up with a hard hit up the middle to score another run for the Eagles. Madi Evans was then hit by a pitch to take 1st base. Becca Cardona hit another run in with an error at 1st base. R. Myers had 3 hits, 2 RBIs J. Hawkins had 3 hits, 3 RBIs K. Wiley had 2 hits, 2 RBIs M. Archer had 3 hits, 3 RBIs L. Godfrey went 3 for 3 and had 1 RBI Karsyn Wiley pitched the first 5 innings for the Eagles and had 4 strikeouts. Pathie Speicher pitched 2 innings and had 3 strikeouts.
