After being down by 3 after the first quarter, the Golden Eagles outscored the Frankton Eagles by 8 in the 2nd quarter and kept the lead the rest of the game, as it was extremely close throughout. The Golden Eagles have won 3 close games in a row playing tough defense and hitting key shots and free throws down the stretch. In the 4th quarter the Golden Eagles got a huge three point shot by Landon Cruzan, and the rest of the 4th quarter was mostly free throws as Tonagel hit 2 of 4, Elzinga hit 1 of 2, Lawson hit 2 of 2, and Shugart hit 5 of 5 in the 4th to help seal the game. Jace Tonagel had an all around great game with 22 points, 6 assists, 5 steals, and 3 rebounds. Landon Cruzan stepped up big hitting 3 big three point shots finishing with a career high 11 points, 2 rebounds and 2 steals. RJ Shugart scored 10 points, all in the 2nd half with 2 steals and an assist. Ryan Lawson contributed 10 big points as well! Elzinga and Middlesworth both scored 3 points with 3 and 2 assists respectively. Landon Watts also had 2 big points in the 4th. That’s the 3rd close game victory in a row for the young Golden Eagles, as they are learning on the fly how to win those games! Another complete team victory with 7 players in the scoring column! The Golden Eagles next play Saturday, December 28 vs Eastbrook as we host the Grant 4.
