The OHXC Lady Eagles started their 2024 season Saturday at the very tough Huntington North Invitational. The event featured a field almost entirely comprised of larger schools as well as multiple Top 25 State Ranked teams including last year's State Runner Up and this year's #2 ranked preseason team Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran. The Lady Eagles scored 353 points to finish 14th overall. Concordia won the event with 49 points while Columbia City was 2nd, East Noble 3rd, Fort Wayne Dwenger 4th, and Top 25 State Ranked Fort Wayne Carroll 5th. Senior Lady Eagle Audrey Woodard led the way in the varsity event finishing a highly respectable Top 50 in 42nd overall in a time of 21:31. The time matched Woodard's best time from a season ago on a tough course. Sophomore Lady Eagle Quinn Brunner was 69th in a new lifetime best 22:56. The time for Brunner was almost 2 minutes faster than any time she ran a year ago. Senior Lady Eagle Abby Sneed was close behind in 75th while Sophomore Lilly Snyder and Freshman Rossi Skinner rounded out the varsity both also grabbing Top 100 finishes in 92nd and 95th respectively. Like Brunner, Sneed and Snyder both posted times faster than their season best a year ago. The Varsity Top 7 was rounded out in the Junior Varsity race with Junior Kaitlyn Scalf and Freshman Lilly Hunt both posting solid races in 24th and 41st. The Lady Eagles host the annual Oak Hill Invitational next Saturday August 31st.
