OHXC Golden Eagle Blair Shatters Program & County Record to Win Individual Title Leading Golden Eagles to an Oak Hill Invite Team Title - Hart, Clark, Hueston Earn Top 15 Medals

OHXC hosted the annual Oak Hill Invitational Saturday and for the 1st time all year the Golden Eagles had good weather and a fast course to compete on. As a result the times and efforts did not disappoint. Led by 4 Top 15 Medalist including Golden Eagle Freshman Brantley Blair winning the individual title in a record breaking 15:18, the Golden Eagles ran away with the team title for the 2nd straight year with a low 37 points. Blair's time shattered not only the OHXC Program Record of 15:41 shared by Owen Jackson and Brent Grogan from 2023 and 1992 but also surpassed the Grant County All Time Record held by Mississinewa's Brennan Butche who posted a 15:26 nearly 10 years ago. Blair's time was a course record as well as a meet record. The previous meet record was set in 2021 with a time of 15:59. As of the time of this posting Blair's time is the best time in the State at this point in the season. 2nd place on Saturday was a fast 15:30. Senior Wyatt Hart also posted a huge personal best as the Golden Eagles as he took 3rd in 16:03. Hart's time moved him up the All Time OHXC Program rankings to 8th. He surpassed State Qualifiers Matt McClain and Dustin Rose in the process. hart's time was the 5th best time ever by a Golden Eagle on their home course and the 6th best time ever by a Golden Eagle Senior. OHXC won the team title over the 11 team field. Heritage Christian was 2nd with 69 with Bluffton taking 3rd with 87, Fairfield 4th with 103, and Delta 5th with 108 points. Joining Blair and Hart on the Top 15 Medal Podium were Juniors Josh Clark and Bret Hueston who both set new personal bests taking 8th and 9th and nearing the sub 17 barrier. Sophomore Graham Arrendale just missed the medals in 16th breaking 18 minutes for the 1st time in his career. The varsity Top 7 was rounded out by Junior Gavin Key in 24th and Senior Eli Leak in 26th. Other Top 40 Golden Eagle finishers were Junior Grant Melton in 27th, Junior Jace Hueston in 29th, Freshman Brekyn Pritchett in 32nd, Junior Christian Smiley in 33rd, and Freshman Colson Woodard in 37th. The Golden Eagles travel South next weekend to compete in the always fast Rick Weinheimer Columbus North Classic Saturday September 5th.
