For the second time in less than a week the OHXC Lady Eagles traveled South to compete against some of the State's best from South of 465. Tuesday the Lady Eagles took a very respectable 4th behind 3 perennial State Qualifiers competing in the 1st Annual Blomington North Charlie Warthan Classic - Hokum Karem. The event was honoring Bloomington Norths recently retired longtime Hall of Fame Coach Charlie Warthan - who OHXC Coach Brunner coached under. The Hokum Karem event features a different format as athletes are paired up and run a 6 mile relay with each athlete running 3x1 Mile. The top 3 pairs from each school score. The Lady Eagles took 4th with 33 points. Bloomington North won the event with 13 points while Bloomington South was 2nd with 22 and Edgewood 3rd with 26. The Lady Eagles defeated Martinsville, Brown County, and Owen Valley. The Lady Eagle pair of Senior Quinn Brunner and Junior Lilly Hunt ran a very impressive race earning a Top 5 Podium finish for the 2nd straight meet finishing 4th in a total time of 39:54. Both Brunner and Hunt averaged just under 6:40 a mile on the very rolling course that featured a large hill towards the end. Brunner's 6:22 was the fastest mile for a Lady Eagle and Top 6 overall. Both Brunner and Hunt posted Top 10 times individually on the day. Other Lady Eagle pairs were - Junior Rossi Skinner and Freshman Verity Bishop taking 14th in 44:17. Senior Lilly Snyder and Sophomore Shelby Hollingsworth 17th in 45:56. Sophomores Izzy Ybarra and Elayna Cates came in 26th. The Lady Eagles host the Oak Hill Invitational this Saturday August 29th.
