The Oak Hill Golden Eagles opened 2026 with a gritty road test Monday night, falling 36–27 to a deep, physical, and well-coached Hamilton Heights Huskies squad. After the long Christmas break, Oak Hill shook off early rust and found rhythm late in the first. Corey Templin came out hot with a triple and two more buckets, while Cristian Pavey dominated the post off the bench for four points. The Golden Eagles also welcomed back Tayt Bowlin from injury. Both teams pushed an up-tempo pace, but the Huskies drained two threes and transition layups to take a 14–10 edge. Defense ruled the second quarter. Oak Hill packed the paint with sound help, while Hamilton Heights pressured passing lanes aggressively. Matthew Lawson and Pavey battled the Huskies’ 6'7" big man on the glass. Tanner Martin and Templin each splashed a three for Oak Hill’s only points, but Hamilton Heights hit the free throw line repeatedly to stretch the halftime lead to 25–16. In the third, Oak Hill emphasized transition defense to slow the Huskies’ sideline break. Meanwhile, only Lawson managed to score as Hamilton Heights pulled ahead 32–18. Trailing by 14 entering the fourth, the Golden Eagles unleashed their press. Graham Arrendale and Lawson set traps alongside Tytan Ott and Templin, forcing five Huskies turnovers. Ott buried a transition three, and Arrendale added five, but Oak Hill couldn’t convert enough chances to close the gap. Templin led the Golden Eagles with 10 points, followed by Arrendale (5), Pavey (4), Ott and Martin (3 each), and Lawson (2). Next up: Elwood visits The Eagles Nest on January 12th, tip-off 6:00 p.m.
