The Oak Hill Golden Eagles shook off a long holiday break and battled to a hard-fought 34–23 victory over the Maconaquah Braves on Tuesday night in Bunker Hill. The first quarter was a feeling-out process, with both teams trading blows against zone defenses. Graham Arrendale ignited the Golden Eagles with an early triple, then added a bucket inside alongside Christian Pavey, who scored twice. The physical, back-and-forth frame ended knotted at 8–8. Oak Hill seized momentum in the second behind full-court pressure and aggressive drives. Arrendale, Tytan Ott, and Pavey converted key free throws, while Matthew Lawson and Pavey combined for three field goals to build a 17–12 halftime edge. Maconaquah answered out of the locker room, winning the third quarter with disciplined zone execution that slowed the Golden Eagles’ attack. Arrendale stayed aggressive at the line, and Corey Templin chipped in three points, but Oak Hill clung to a slim 22–18 lead heading to the fourth. The Golden Eagles exploded in the final frame, delivering their best basketball when it mattered most. Arrendale buried two huge threes, Ott flashed for a transition layup, and Pavey and Lawson cleaned the glass for four combined points. Oak Hill outscored the Braves by seven down the stretch to seal the win. Despite stretches where Maconaquah’s zone dictated a slower pace, the Golden Eagles stayed true to their identity — relentless effort and championship-level execution. Arrendale paced the attack with 14 points, Pavey added 9, Lawson and Templin 4 each, and Ott 3. Oak Hill improves to 5-1 and now enjoys the holiday break before returning January 5th at Hamilton Heights.
