The Oak Hill Golden Eagles faced their toughest test of the young season Saturday afternoon on their home floor in Mier, dropping a 55–28 decision to a sharp-shooting Norwell Knights squad. The game started competitively. Tanner Martin and Tytan Ott each drained early threes, and Matthew Lawson added a bucket inside, but Norwell answered with three triples of their own to take a 12–8 edge after one. The Knights’ 2-3 zone continued to frustrate Oak Hill in the second, holding the Golden Eagles to just eight points on buckets from Ott, Corey Templin, Martin, and Christian Pavey. Norwell tacked on two more long-range shots and carried a 26–18 lead into the break. The third quarter belonged to the Knights. Their zone defense became suffocating, limiting Oak Hill to five made free throws in eight attempts. Meanwhile, Norwell exploded for 22 points, including four more three-pointers, to blow the game open at 48–23 heading to the fourth. The Golden Eagles refused to quit in the final frame. Graham Arrendale added a triple and four free throws to the scoring column, accounting for all seven of Oak Hill’s fourth-quarter points, but the deficit proved too large to overcome. Norwell’s deadly shooting (10 made three-pointers) and disciplined 2-3 zone disrupted Oak Hill’s usual up-tempo attack, and handed the Golden Eagles their first loss. Oak Hill will look to bounce back quickly when they return to action next week.
