The Oak Grove High School girls golf team finished fifth at the MRVC Conference Tournament at Hoots Hollow, recording a team score of 470. The Panthers continued to improve against conference competition, finishing ahead of a team they had previously beaten earlier in the season. Richmond won the conference tournament with a team score of 397. Senior Ashley Miller led Oak Grove with a score of 112, finishing just outside of medal contention. Aubrey Long followed with a 118, while Brinlee Tripp shot a 119, Elizabeth Purvis recorded a 121, and Teagan Coffman finished with a 131. “Overall, I thought we played well today,” the Oak Grove coaching staff said. “We were able to improve our standings in the conference by finishing ahead of a school we lost to earlier in the season. It’s always good to see improvement. I thought the girls battled all day and kept a great attitude throughout the tournament.” With the conference tournament complete, Oak Grove now turns its attention to postseason competition. The experience at Hoots Hollow gave the Panthers another chance to compete under tournament conditions before heading into the District Tournament this week. “This tournament gives us some good experience going into District this week, and I feel very confident we will play well,” the coaching staff said. The Panthers will look to carry that momentum and continued improvement into District competition.
