NOUVEL TOPS MLS: HEAD TO DISTRICT FINAL AGAINST BEAL CITY: The Nouvel Catholic Central varsity football team defeated Michigan Lutheran Seminary (MLS) 34-28 on Halloween, punching their ticket to play for the school's 14th District football title. The Panthers (8-2) head to Beal City to play the defending Division 8 state champions for the district crown. The Aggies are 10-0 this season. Beal City beat Sacred Heart Academy 49-7 on Friday to advance. The date and time of the district final will be announced soon. The Panthers drew first blood against MLS with a first quarter touchdown and never relinquished the lead, heading into the locker room up 21-14 at the half. Nouvel largely kept it on the ground Friday and in the hands of Owen Vance who recorded his second consecutive 200-yard game. Vance rolled up 258 yards on 31 carries, and found the end zone three times. John Carlson also punched in a touchdown on a one-yard goal line surge. Parker Kingsbury connected with Sean Foley on a 20-yard pass for the Panthers only touchdown through the air. On the other side of the ball, Carlson paced the defense with nine tackles while fellow senior Christian Lopez notched eight. The winner of Nouvel-Beal City will move on to play for the regional title against the winner of Harbor Beach/Unionville-Sebewaing. Harbor Beach (10-0) is the top-rated Division 8 team in the state. Let’s Go Panthers!
