LONG CLAIMS REGIONAL CROSS COUNTRY TITLE: LONG & FETTIG ADVANCE TO STATE FINAL. Less than a week after setting a new Nouvel Catholic Central girls' cross country record, junior Claire Long captured the MHSAA Lower Peninsula Region 30 Division 4 championship in Shepherd on Friday. Long crossed the finish line in 19:42, a full 13 seconds ahead of the runner-up, earning her a trip to the state final next week. In the boys’ race, Abram Fettig also qualified for the state final after an impressive performance. He finished 11th overall, placing second among all freshmen with a time of 17:46. Overall, the Nouvel boys team put together a strong showing, with Daniel Malott placing 37th, Charles Gipson 63rd, and Sebastian Warr 67th. Warr set a personal record by an amazing 50 seconds. Claire will take the starting line at 9:30 a.m. in the Division 4 girls state final at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, MI. The boys race, featuring Abram, is set to begin at 10:50 a.m. Let’s go Panthers!
