Golfers Compete in Windy & Cold I-8 Jamboree at Hasting Tuesday The Northwest Boys’ Golf Team competed in the second I-8 Jamboree of the spring Tuesday resulting in 3rd place in the overall I-8 Standings going into the Conference Tournament on May 13th. The Mounties fired a season and low and stellar 148 team score of the front 9 led by a 3 under par round of 33 by Cody Rowe. Unfortunately, they were edged out of 1st place by Western who posted one stroke better at 147. On the very difficult back nine the scores by all teams were elevated and the Northwest boys struggled top to bottom finishing with a 167 only good enough for 4th place on the back nine. Overall, on the day, the Mounties were led by senior, Cody Rowe who finished with a 39 on the back giving him an even par round of 72. Senior, Jake Brafford fired 36/41 for 77. Senior Jarrett Osterberg posted an 81 and junior, Liam Renaud, finished with an 87. Seniors, Mason Beecher and Javen Palmer each came in with rounds of 90. “The 148 on the front, led by Cody’s 33. that we posted is the lowest 9-hole match score in my 14 years as head coach and was impressive to watch,” said Coach, Martha Cantlin. “However, it was a tale of two nine-hole events and the second nine was brutal, scoring 19 strokes more as team, and that was hard to watch.” The Mounties play next week in 3 tournaments starting on Monday at Cedar Creek GC in the Lakeview Invitational.
