Golfers Win 2nd Straight Invitational Thursday @ Bedford Valley In a field of 22 teams, the Northwest Golfers captured the Gull Lake Tom Collins Invitational title on Thursday, placing 1st for the second straight invite posting a team total of 310. Playing at Bedford Valley playing from the blue tees set up over 6500 yards with very thick and long roughs, making for very challenging conditions despite the beautiful weather. The Mounties were led by the Tournament Medalist for the 2nd straight time as well. This time it was senior Cody Rowe firing a 1 under par round of 71. Jake Brafford carded a 76 taking 5th place individually in the field of 115 golfers. Seniors Jarrett Osterberg and Javen Plamer rounded out the scoring with rounds of 79 and 84 respectively. Also playing for the Mounties was senior Mason Beecher who finished with 86. “Today was Cody’s day to shine for sure, firing 6 birdies en-route to his second 71 in as many tournaments,” said Coach, Martha Cantlin. “The course was very challenging today with the thick roughs. All the guys had to fight their way around the course and I was very proud of how they managed to stay focused and finish strong as a team today!” The Mounties play Monday in the Tecumseh Invite and on Tuesday the second I-8 Jamboree at the Legacy of Hastings.
