NCA's Varsity Baseball Team handled the District 4 Champion Christian Heritage Longview Sentinels in Longview on Saturday! The Lions jumped out to an early lead, and kept building that lead into the 5th inning, where they were up 7-1 after 5. While it looked as though the Lions may route the Sentinels, CH kept battling, cutting the lead to 7-3 after 6. In the 7th and final inning, NCA tacked on one more insurance run, making it 8-3 NCA. CH kept fighting back in the bottom of the 7th however, scoring 3 more runs and making NCA fans nervous! In the end, a resilient bunch of Lions managed to hold their lead with a popout, ground out, and line out to seal an 8-6 victory! Noah Hargrove pitched a solid 6 innings for the Lions, holding the Sentinels to 3 runs, while striking out 9, while Jacob Struble closed out the 7th from the mound for the Lions! The Lions bats were once again scorching hot, as the team posted 15 hits for the day, 12 of them against the Sentinels Ace Pitcher! Even more impressively, all 9 batters in the Lions line-up earned base hits for the day, led by Carson Drury's triple in the 3rd, and doubles by Jacob Struble, Boston Busby, and Aidan Adams! The Lions advanced to the Regional Round, and will now face the Dallas First Baptist Saints on Thursday, May 1st, looking to avenge their loss to FBA in the Regional Round of the Basketball Playoffs back in February of this year. *Photo Credits: Timothy Elijah Adams
