The NCA Varsity Boys Baseball Team is off to a solid start behind some stellar pitching! While dropping their 1st 2 games, they now have their full roster of players, some of whom were still competing in the basketball playoffs. With their full roster on the field for the 1st time together, they defeated Keene HS on Tuesday, lead by Carson Drury's NO-HITTER! Carson went the distance for the Lions in his 1st start of the season, striking out 9 batters and walking only 2! The Lions run-ruled Keene HS, a 3A UIL Public School, after just 4 innings! On Friday, they took care of TAPPS 3A Fellowship Academy by run-rule again, with Jacob Struble getting the win on the mound for the Lions. After 3 solid innings, Struble gave up only 1 run and struck out 4. Lefty Freshman Will Smithers held the lead for the 4th inning, with 1 K, then Senior Noah Hargrove closed out the Mustangs out with 4 K's and no runs given up over the last 2 innings! The Lions bats were hot both games, wracking up 24 hits as a team over the 2 game span!!! Noah Hargrove, Caleb Cunningham, Will Smithers, Aidan Adams, and Carson Drury all had an impressive week at the plate, each batting .500 or above! The Lions will face Westlake Academy and Texas Wind at home this coming week, and will meet up with Harvest Keller for their 1st District Game on Friday! Come watch these Lions play some baseball if you haven't already! They are poised for a great season and a deep playoff run!
