The #6-ranked Munster Mustangs showcased depth and determination at the North Central Invite on May 17, finishing 2-1 on the day with wins over Homestead and North Central after an early narrow loss to Guerin Catholic. Munster opened the day with a tightly contested 2-3 match against Guerin. Freshmen Priyanka and Pallavi Tallamraju earned dominant straight-set wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, but Guerin edged out victories in the remaining courts despite a strong battle from Berlyn Compton at No. 3 singles and tough efforts in doubles. The Mustangs rebounded quickly in their second match, sweeping Homestead 5-0. The team controlled play across the board, with efficient wins from all three singles players and both doubles teams, setting the tone for the rest of the day. Munster closed the invite with a 4-1 win over host North Central. The Tallamraju sisters once again led the way with straight-set victories, and Compton added a solid win at No. 3 singles. At No. 2 doubles, Krisa Parikh and co-captain Claire Han sealed the fourth point with a strong showing. JV players, including Isabella Shin and Lila Labahn, also saw valuable action against top-tier competition, gaining experience that will serve them well moving forward. Overall, the Mustangs delivered a statement performance, reinforcing their place among the state’s elite as they gear up for the postseason.
