On April 22 at Munster High, the Mustangs varsity girls’ tennis team delivered a flawless performance, blanking the Kankakee Valley Kougars 5–0. From the top of the lineup to the bottom, Munster’s underclassmen dominated every set. Freshman Priyanka Tallamraju set the tone at No. 1 singles with a commanding 6-0, 6-0 victory over Brooke Richie. Her sister Pallavi, also a freshman, followed suit at No. 2 singles, dismantling Savannah Garcia by the same score. Berlyn Compton (9) closed out the singles flight with a 6-0, 6-1 win, giving Munster a swift 3–0 lead. On the doubles courts, senior duos built on that momentum: Isabella Shin and Claire Han pocketed a 6-3, 6-1 decision, while Risha Panigrahi and Annemarie Fuller cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 finish. Head Coach Patrick Spohr and his assistants—Doug Filipek, along with volunteers Shalini and Sanjana Tallamraju—praised the team’s intensity and consistency. Meanwhile, the junior varsity squad split eight tight sets with the Kougars, winning four. Standouts included Lila Labahn, Sopha Rodgiguez and Sriylaya Baskaran, who each captured their singles flights. The JV doubles teams fought valiantly but ultimately split their four matches.
