The Munster Mustangs picked up two big wins on Friday, defeating Columbia City and Leo High School to improve their overall record to 12-3. In game one at Leo High School, the Mustangs topped Columbia City 3-1 behind a dominant performance from Ally Compton, who threw a complete game no-hitter while allowing just one unearned run. Caroline Wendlinger and Kaylee O’Connell each went 2-for-4 with a run scored to lead the offense. Game two was a back-and-forth battle, but Munster rallied late to edge out Leo 5-4. Maddy Marlowe and Brooklyn Kuna each had two hits and a run scored. Kaylee O’Connell contributed a double and an RBI, pitching the first five innings with six strikeouts. With the Mustangs trailing, Compton entered in relief and earned the win, tossing two strong innings with three strikeouts and just one hit allowed. Key moments included Brooklyn Kuna’s third-inning bunt single that led to Munster’s first run, and a seventh-inning rally sparked by doubles from Compton and O’Connell. Morgan Kindy delivered the go-ahead RBI single with two outs in the final inning to seal the win. The Mustangs return to action Monday as they face conference rival Hanover Central.
