Softball takes the Leo Invite

The Mustangs extended their win streak to 8 in securing the Leo Invite Championship. The Mustangs won two games on Saturday to move their record to 9-4. In game 2, the Mustangs defeated Fort Wayne Northrop 10-2. Ally Compton earned the victory after giving up two runs on four hits. She register 13 K's on the day. The offense belted 14 hits. Kylie Madura was 3-4 with two doubles, an RBI, and a run scored. Ally Compton, Morgan Kindy, Caroline Wendinger, and Melania Munoz had multiple hits. Compton, Mason, and Kindy doubled and Wendlinger homered. In game three, the Mustangs prevailed 6-5. Emily Siurek pitched the first six innings earning the victory. She gave up 5 hits and had 8 K's. The Mustangs were up 3-0 going into the bottom of the 6th when they gave up 5 runs. They rallied in the top of the 7th scoring 3 runs to take the lead. Ally Compton came in on the mound and pitched a scoreless 7th inning to preserve the lead. Offensively, the Mustangs were lead by Kaylee O'Connell who went 3-4 with a double, 3 RBI's, and a run scored. Madura and Wendlinger register 2 hits and Madure scored 2 runs. The Mustangs take on conference for Hanover Central on Monday, April 15 at Munster High School at 5:00 PM.
