The Munster High School Girls Varsity Basketball team picked up its first victory of the season on Tuesday, November 11, defeating Michigan City 40–22. The win brings the team’s overall record to 1–1. Munster controlled the game from the opening tip, leading 12–3 after the first quarter and extending the advantage to 22–11 at halftime. The defense continued to hold strong, pushing the lead to 27–13 entering the final period before closing out the game with a 40–22 win. The Mustangs were led offensively by Arroya Mongerie, who finished with 14 points, including four made three-pointers. Nwanma Odeluga added 9 points, giving Munster consistent scoring throughout the night. Dominance on the boards played a major role in the victory. Igbo Odeluga recorded 10 offensive rebounds and 5 defensive rebounds, while also collecting 5 steals. Nwanma Odeluga added 7 offensive rebounds and 2 defensive rebounds, helping Munster control possession and limit Michigan City’s scoring opportunities. In the earlier game, Munster’s JV team also earned a win, defeating Michigan City 36–28, bringing their record to 1–1 on the season. The Mustangs return to action on Friday, November 14, as they travel to Chesterton for their next matchup.
