Boys Cross Country 1st at Charleston Invitational On Saturday morning, the Mahomet-Seymour High School Boys XC Team competed at EIU in the Charleston Big Trojan Invitational. The team has been attending this meet since 2005. There was one boys race held. 24 teams competed in the varsity race, with 22 being complete teams (5 or more runners). There were 243 individual finishers. The team placed 1st. This is our 16th time winning the meet. Mahomet-Seymour placed 1st with 43 points, Toledo (Cumberland) placed 2nd with 132 points, and Champaign (Central) placed 3rd with 133 points. Our scorers were Henry McMurry (3rd), Tay Gergen (7th), Tate Bode (8th), Adam Smigielski (13th), and Auggie Gaudio (17th). Top 40 medaled. We had nine medalists--Henry McMurry (3rd), Tay Gergen (7th), Tate Bode (8th), Adam Smigielski (13th), Auggie Gaudio (17th), Carter Alderks (19th), Liam Burwell (27th), Caleb Zulauf (31st), and Will Bednar (35th). Caleb and Will earned their first high school medals. The team had the 4th fastest top 5 average, 4th fastest top 7 average, and 3rd fastest overall team average we've ever had at the meet. Henry McMurry ran the 4th fastest MSHS senior time ever at this meet with his 15:34. Auggie Gaudio ran the 17th fastest MSHS senior time ever at this meet with his 16:17. Tate Bode tied for 2nd fastest MSHS junior time ever at this meet with his 15:45. Tay Gergen ran the 2nd fastest MSHS sophomore time ever at this meet with his 15:44. Adam Smigielski ran the 5th fastest MSHS sophomore time ever at this meet with his 15:56. Carter Alderks ran the 12th fastest MSHS sophomore time ever at this meet with his 16:32. Liam Burwell ran the 17th fastest MSHS sophomore time ever at this meet with his 16:44. Caleb Zulauf ran the 9th fastest MSHS freshman time ever at this meet with his 17:03. Will Bendar ran the 11th fastest MSHS freshman time ever at this meet with his 17:14. We had 7 runners run lifetime 3-mile personal bests--Tay Gergen, Caleb Zulauf, Jackson Koontz, Blake Patrick, Dominic Bruns, Bernardo Allan Pinto, and Corbin Moser. We had one runner move up on our MSHS Fastest 3-Mile Times By Class. Tay Gergen is now the 11th fastest sophomore we've ever had. Full Mahomet-Seymour can be found below.
