The Mahomet-Seymour Girls Cross Country team is headed to State! The girls team placed 4th out of 17 teams at the Sectional meet in Olney. The Bulldogs were paced by Emily Anand who narrowly missed out on receiving all-sectional honors, placing 12th. Freshman Cecily Smith followed closely behind, running an incredible race. Taylor Mills, our 3rd runner, continues to show tremendous grit, choosing to run through pain to support her team. Our 4th and 5th runners, freshmen Kennedy Ashby and Finley Smith, were fierce competitors today and ran like veterans. They both ran PRs (on a course that is not known for PRs). Seniors Chloe Bundren and Morgan Waisath rounded out our varsity line-up and continue to offer a grounding force to their younger teammates. Also on our post-season roster are alternates Jinan Abdo, Emma Frazier, Ava Jansen, Caroline Allen, and Emily Ramirez. They have been an invaluable support system to the coaches and their teammates I am incredibly proud of this entire group. Their work ethic all season has been outstanding, and their positive energy is contagious. 2A Girls State Race Saturday 11:00 am at Detweiller Park in Peoria.
