Mahomet Seymour High School

On Tuesday, October 13th, the Mahomet-Seymour High School Boys XC team competed in the Apollo Conference Championships at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston. This is our 10th year competing in the Apollo Conference. All boys raced in one race at 5:15pm. A team must have five finishers in order to count as a “complete” team and score in the competition. There were 69 individual finishers. MSHS placed 1st. This is our 8th time winning the Apollo Conference title. The complete team results are as follows: Mahomet-Seymour (M.-Seymour) 26 Mt. Zion 70 Taylorville 71 Charleston 80 Effingham 138 Mattoon 158 Our scorers were Tay Gergen (2nd), Adam Smigielski (3rd), Abdel Abdo (5th), Tate Bode (7th), and Liam Burwell (9th). Top 10 individuals earned medals and All-Conference honors. We had six medalists, our highest number since 2016–Tay Gergen (2nd), Adam Smigielski (3rd), Abdel Abdo (5th), Tate Bode (7th), Liam Burwell (9th), and Jake Mills (10th). We keep records of the fastest individual and team times for MSHS at this meet. Tay Gergen ran the 18th fastest MSHS junior time ever at this meet with his 15:52. Adam Smigielski ran the 22nd fastest MSHS junior time ever at this meet with his 15:57. Abdel Abdo ran the 12th fastest MSHS sophomore time ever at this meet with his 16:08.
