Boys Cross Country repeats as Team Champions at Charleston

On Saturday, September 5th, the Mahomet-Seymour High School Boys XC team competed in the Charleston Invitational at Eastern Illinois University.This is our 22nd year attending the meet. There was one boys race at 9:15am. A team must have five finishers in order to count as a “complete” team and score in the competition. In the boys race, 24 teams competed, with 17 being complete teams. There were 232 individual finishers. MSHS placed 1st. This is our 17th time winning this meet, and our third year in a row. The top three teams were: Mahomet (M.-Seymour) 20 Urbana 82 Toledo (Cumberland) 95 Our scorers were Adam Smigielski (2nd), Tay Gergen (4th), Tate Bode (6th), Abdel Abdo (7th), and Carter Alderks (8th). The top 40 finishers earned medals. We had eight medalists–Adam Smigielski (2nd), Tay Gergen (4th), Tate Bode (6th), Abdel Abdo (7th), Carter Alderks (8th), Jackson Koontz (28th), Kiptyn Fan (30th), and Henry Welch (35th). We keep records of the fastest individual and team times for MSHS at this meet. Tate Bode ran the 20th fastest MSHS senior time ever at this meet with his 16:32. Adam Smigielski ran the 16th fastest MSHS junior time ever at this meet with his 16:11. Tay Gergen ran the 22nd fastest MSHS junior time ever at this meet with his 16:22. Abdel Abdo ran the 3rd fastest MSHS sophomore time ever at this meet with his 16:33. We had 1 runner complete his first high school 3-mile race–Dax Taylor. Boys varsity will run at 10:30am with a boys open to follow at 11:15am.
