The Girls XC Team showed up in a big way at IHSA 2A State today with an 8th place finish. Senior Emily Anand executed a flawless race and received all-state recognition with her 15th place finish. She also set a new school record of 17:31.41. The team as a whole got out strong and looked incredibly poised for the entire race. There were 236 of the state's best runners in the race. Here are our results: 15. Emily Anand 17:31 70. Paige Jansen 18:41 79. Cecily Smith 18:48 109. Anniston Huff 19:13 137. Kennedy Ashby 19:33 154. Ava Cvengros 19:46 160. Finley Smith 19:50 Six of our seven runners ran lifetime PRs with the remaining runner only being one second off her best. As a coach, you cannot ask for a better effort under pressure. Our two alternates, Emma Dewitt and Jaci Kellenberger are probably close to the best 8 and 9 runners in the state, as a strength of this team is our depth. We return all but one of these top 9 next year. I am incredibly proud of this group and all of their supportive teammates who made the trip. The future for MSHS XC is SO bright.
