6th Grade: We hosted Driver and started out slow but improved our play the second set but still lost to a good team in two sets(13-25 20-25). Harper Robinson led the team defensively Cora Greene had 3 aces/ McKenzie Garringer had 6 aces /Hailey Grove had 2 aces/Jillian Goad added one ace . Next game is on the road to Daleville Monday September 22nd. We are 2-3 so far for the season! 4 games left come support the girls. 7th Grade: 7th Grade Lady Bears Extend Streak with Rivalry Win The Monroe Central 7th Grade Lady Bears defended their home court in Hall Gym with an electric victory over county rival Winchester Driver Hawks, winning in straight sets (25-23, 25-7). The first set was a nail-biter, with both teams trading points and playing with relentless passion. In the second set, the Lady Bears came out strong, seized the momentum, and never looked back. The team was led by Delainee Whitehead, who served for 21 points on the evening, recording 7 aces, 2 digs, and 1 kill. Mabrey Cheesman added 13 service points, 3 aces, 1 assist, and 1 dig, while Alexa Tinsman contributed 3 kills, 1 ace, and 1 dig. Blakely Burge chipped in 2 aces and 2 digs, Ellie Lanter put down 2 kills, Kendall Johnson tallied 1 assist and 1 dig, and Harper Whitehead added a dig. With the win, the Lady Bears improve to 8-1 on the season and extend their winning streak to eight straight matches. Next up, they’ll travel this weekend to compete in the Driver Invitational. 8th Grade: On Thursday night, the 8th grade Lady Bears volleyball won against Driver Middle School in 2 sets: 25-20, 25-14. Performance highlights include Bristol Goad: 6 aces and 6 digs / Haidyn Knott: 5 aces, 4 assists, 1 kill / Landry Taylor: 2 aces, 1 kill, 6 assists, 1 dig / Izzy McGrath: 6 kills, 3 blocks / Gracie McCreery: 4 aces, 3 kills / Claire Cheesman: 1 ace, 1 kill, 3 digs / Callie Grove: 2 kills, 1 dig / Ashtyn Baldwin: 1 assist, 1 dig / Alyssa Chalfant: 2 digs. After playing 4 games in 4 days, the team will head into the Driver Invitational on Saturday to vie for a first championship title of the season.
