Caleb Luedike’s Clutch Hitting Propels Monroe Central Varsity Bears To Victory Over South Adams By GameChanger Media Caleb Luedike drove in four runs on three hits to lead Monroe Central Varsity Bears past South Adams 18-13 on Monday. Luedike hit a home run to right field in the first scoring two, singled in the fifth scoring one, and singled in the sixth scoring one. Both offenses were strong at the plate as Monroe Central Varsity Bears collected 12 hits and South Adams 12 in the high-scoring affair. South Adams got on the board in the top of the first inning after Luke Bauman hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, and Derek Weaver homered to left field, scoring three runs. Monroe Central Varsity Bears scored two runs in the bottom of the first on a home run to right field by Luedike. Monroe Central Varsity Bears captured the lead, 5-4, in the bottom of the second when two runs scored on another play, and a passed ball scored one run. Zaden Baumer singled to the left side of the infield, which helped South Adams tie the game at five in the top of the third. Monroe Central Varsity Bears took the lead in the bottom of the third. Myles Oliphant singled, scoring one run, to give Monroe Central Varsity Bears the edge, 6-5. In the top of the fourth inning, South Adams went back into the lead after Jax Wanner doubled down the left field line, and Bauman singled down the right field line, each scoring one run. South Adams committed an error, which helped Monroe Central Varsity Bears tie the game at seven in the bottom of the fourth. Monroe Central Varsity Bears flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fifth, scoring five runs on two hits to take the lead, 12-7. The biggest blow in the inning was a walk by Mason McCreery that drove in one. Monroe Central Varsity Bears scored six runs on five hits in the bottom of the sixth inning. Oliphant doubled, scoring one run, Carter Morris singled, scoring one run, Carter Duncan singled, scoring one run, Luedike singled, scoring one run, Logan Walker singled, scoring one run, and a wild pitch scored one run. South Adams scored four runs in the top of the seventh on a grand slam to left field by Weaver on an 0-2 count. McCreery earned the win for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. The hurler allowed three hits and five runs over one and one-third innings, striking out three and walking five. Kane Sturwold took the loss for South Adams. The starting pitcher went two innings, allowing six runs (four earned) on four hits, striking out four and walking three. Oliphant stepped on the hill first for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. The hurler allowed eight hits and seven runs over five innings, striking out four and walking four. Levi Pence appeared in relief for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. Monroe Central Varsity Bears piled up 12 hits in the game. Oliphant and Luedike each collected three hits for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. Monroe Central Varsity Bears had patience at the plate, tallying 11 walks for the game. McCreery, Pence, and Luedike led the team with two walks each. South Adams accumulated 12 hits in the game. Wanner and Weaver each collected three hits for South Adams. Weaver went 3-for-4 at the plate and led the team with seven runs batted in. Baumer and Bauman each collected multiple hits for South Adams. South Adams had a strong eye at the plate, amassing 10 walks for the game. Manuel Juarez, Bauman, and Sty Pyle led the team with two free passes each. Next up for Monroe Central Varsity Bears is a game against Randolph Southern on Tuesday.
