Varsity Softball falls to Eastern Hancock

Monroe Central Varsity Bears Fall After Strong Showing By Eastern Hancock Varsity Royals By GameChanger Media Monroe Central Varsity Bears had trouble keeping up with Eastern Hancock Varsity Royals in a 14-3 loss on Thursday. Eastern Hancock Varsity Royals got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Monroe Central Varsity Bears committed an error, Monroe Central Varsity Bears committed an error, and Brooklynn Headlee singled to center field, each scoring one run. Eastern Hancock Varsity Royals added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Addisyn Trackwell singled down the left field line, and Eastern Hancock Varsity Royals scored on a wild pitch, each scoring one run. A single by Macy Martin extended the Eastern Hancock Varsity Royals lead to 6-0 in the bottom of the third inning. Eastern Hancock Varsity Royals scored five runs on four hits in the bottom of the fifth inning. An error scored one run, Lilli Ringer singled, scoring one run, and Chyan Evans homered to left field, scoring three runs. Martin earned the win for Eastern Hancock Varsity Royals. The pitcher surrendered three hits and one run (zero earned) over two and one-third innings, striking out three and walking none. Kloee Brannan took the loss for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. The righty went two-thirds of an inning, allowing five runs (four earned) on five hits, striking out none and walking none. Kyra Brockman stepped in the circle first for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. The pitcher allowed six hits and nine runs (two earned) over three and one-third innings, striking out two and walking three. McKenna Stewart started in the circle for Eastern Hancock Varsity Royals. The pitcher gave up one hit and two runs (one earned) over two and two-thirds innings, striking out seven and walking two. Zoie Hood, Jayme Brannan, Haidyn Dumpert, and Laura Walker each collected one hit for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. Hood and Dumpert each drove in one run for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. Walker stole two bases. Monroe Central Varsity Bears ran wild on the base paths, collecting four stolen bases for the game. Eastern Hancock Varsity Royals tallied 11 hits in the game. Evans drove the middle of the lineup, leading Eastern Hancock Varsity Royals with three runs batted in. The first baseman went 1-for-4 on the day. Ringer, Trackwell, and Makenna Mason each collected two hits for Eastern Hancock Varsity Royals. Monroe Central Varsity Bears will travel to Union County High School for their next game on Monday.
