Monroe Central Varsity Bears Fall After Strong Showing By Wes-Del Varsity Warriors By GameChanger Media Monroe Central Varsity Bears had trouble keeping up with Wes-Del Varsity Warriors in a 25-8 loss on Thursday. Monroe Central Varsity Bears were the first to get on the board in the first when Zoie Hood singled, scoring two runs. Wes-Del Varsity Warriors jumped into the lead in the bottom of the first when Bailee West singled, scoring one run, Kenzie Anderson doubled, scoring two runs, and a steal of home scored one run. Monroe Central Varsity Bears captured the lead, 5-4, in the top of the second after Wes-Del Varsity Warriors committed an error, Wes-Del Varsity Warriors committed an error, and Jayme Brannan doubled down the left field line, each scoring one run. Wes-Del Varsity Warriors took the lead, 8-5, in the bottom of the second thanks to doubles by West, Anderson, and Devyn Jaycox. Wes-Del Varsity Warriors scored eight runs on three hits in the bottom of the third inning. An error scored three runs, West doubled, scoring one run, Anderson drew a walk, scoring one run, a passed ball scored one run, Brooklynn Eden grounded out, scoring one run, and an error scored one run. Wes-Del Varsity Warriors scored nine runs on four hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Anderson tripled, scoring three runs, Presley Durr singled, scoring two runs, Marley Bertram singled, scoring one run, and an error scored three runs. Kyra Brockman stepped in the circle first for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. The righty allowed six hits and 13 runs (five earned) over one and one-third innings, striking out none and walking four. Jaycox stepped in the circle first for Wes-Del Varsity Warriors. The pitcher gave up five hits and eight runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out nine and walking three. Hood provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Monroe Central Varsity Bears with two runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Brockman, Raegan Quattlebaum, Hood, Brannan, and Darian Duncan each collected one hit for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. Hood and Kloee Brannan each stole multiple bases for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. Monroe Central Varsity Bears stole five bases in the game. Wes-Del Varsity Warriors collected 13 hits in the game. West and Anderson were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits for Wes-Del Varsity Warriors while hitting back-to-back. Anderson provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Wes-Del Varsity Warriors with five runs batted in. The shortstop went 3-for-4 on the day. Keylie Byrd collected two hits for Wes-Del Varsity Warriors in four at bats. Jaycox led Wes-Del Varsity Warriors with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying seven walks for the game. Byrd and Anderson each stole multiple bases for Wes-Del Varsity Warriors.
